Homicide Indictments Handed Up To Ex-Warren County Deputies In Deadly Traffic Stop

A pair of former Warren County Sheriff's Office employees have been served with new indictments in connection with a deadly traffic stop in April 2022, Virginia State Police announced.

On Monday, April 8, 2024, a Warren County grand jury handed up one felony count of homicide against Zachary A. Fadely, 31, of Shenandoah County, and one felony count of homicide against Tyler S. Poe, 27, of Warren County, police said.

Both Fadely and Poe were deputies when they stopped a 77-year-old Gainesville driver for going 63 mph in a 55 mph zone on April 2, 2022 around 1:20 a.m., and assaulted him, according to Virginia State Police.

The driver, Ralph C. Ennis, died two weeks later.

Both men were arraigned April 8, 2024, and were released on bond.
